Dr. Daniel B. Slovis, DVM, CVA
Founder & Owner
Dr. Daniel Slovis graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in January 2002. Following graduation, he completed an internship at Southwest Equine Medical and Surgical Center, a leading referral hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona.
After his internship, Dr. Slovis began practicing in the Central Virginia area. After a few years, he decided to follow his true passion of small animal veterinary care. His professional interests include pet internal medicine, ultrasound, pet surgery, pet dentistry, pet acupuncture and chiropractic care, and pet wellness and preventative care.
In the winter of 2010, Dr. Slovis decided to pursue his dream of owning a high-quality veterinary hospital. He recognized a need for exceptional veterinary care in the Lake Anna region and chose it as the home of his practice. During his spare time, he enjoys riding his horses, hiking in the mountains, and scenic photography with his wife, Kristine, and his son, Gilbert.
Dr. Cynthia Stansberry
DVM
Dr. Stansberry earned her veterinary degree at the VA-MD Regional College of Veterinary Medicine and her Master of Public Health at the University of Iowa. She has practiced across dairy, mixed animal, and small animal settings—bringing a broad depth of clinical experience to our team.
She and her husband live on a farm with cows, chickens, and a cat.
Dr. Sara Wyant
DVM
Dr. Sara Vaughan Wyant joins our Lake Anna team as a Central Virginia native. Originally from Lynchburg, she completed her DVM degree in 1998 at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg. She then practiced emergency medicine for more than 20 years, owning the only 24/7 emergency and critical care hospital in Charlottesville. Having completed an internship in emergency and critical care medicine, Dr. Sara still enjoys the challenge of emergency care while bringing that same level of compassion and precision to her general practice patients.
Semi-retired now, she enjoys her lake life with her husband John, a local musician and Army veteran. Sara and John share their home with one handsome Boxer named Major and their three self-proclaimed feline rulers—Queen Emma and the two Princes, Oliver and Simon.
Dr. Taylor Renzi
DVM
Dr. Renzi is a highly dedicated associate veterinarian with a strong passion for animal welfare. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Delaware Valley University before pursuing his veterinary education, gaining extensive practical experience through clinical rotations at the University of Florida. He subsequently earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.
Upon graduation, Dr. Renzi began his career at a general care practice in southwest Florida that also provided emergency services and specialty surgeries. After a few years, he relocated to Bumpass, Virginia, to be closer to his family. His professional interests include pet internal medicine, ultrasound, pet surgery, cytology, and pet wellness & preventative care.
Outside of work, Dr. Renzi enjoys wood carving, surfing, hiking, and snowboarding. His most cherished activity, however, is spending quality time with his dogs and family.
Dr. Alexis Lephew
DVM
Dr. Alexis Lephew graduated from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2025. Her true passion lies in helping pets live their healthiest, happiest lives, and she values building lasting connections with both animals and the people who love them.
Her veterinary interests include pet wellness & preventative care, pet dermatology, ultrasound, and soft tissue surgery. With over a decade of experience in the veterinary field, Dr. Lephew brings a strong foundation and is always eager to keep learning and growing. “I believe vet visits should be collaborative, low-stress, and built on trust for both you and your pet.”
Outside the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Garrett, and their two dogs, Cujo and Titan. Together, they love hiking, swimming, exploring new states, and trying out local restaurants wherever they travel. She’s thrilled to be starting this journey at Lake Anna Veterinary Hospital and can’t wait to meet you and your furry family members.
